January 16th, 3026 : The “Relentless” landed at * Landhold : Garrison, to the news that the capital of The Federative Republic of San Marcos had suffered a nuclear explosion from unknown sources. The remaining national government of the nation had ceased to exist. Warlords were scrambling to establish their own nation-states within the remnants of the former districts of San Marcos.

While * “The Iron Dingoes” discussed their next options, Doctor Max Helmut “Moxie” began work with his girlfriend Mia Ospina’s grandfather, proposing his plans to build a telecommunications network in support of national research and collaboration, which the old general applauded. Talk about investment was also mentioned.

January 17th : The unit contacted the Miguel Caballero company in San Succi directly, and after explaining their needs, offered two sets of combat armor to the company for research; the standard Iron Dingoes Infantry Field Kit (3023) combat armor, and the set the unit had recovered from System – Sligo. The unit requested research, including blueprints on their manufacture be conducted; the company could keep and manufacture the Standard copy for themselves, provided the unit got a 25% share in profits from their sale, in exchange for the exclusive rights to the second armor type (initially called the “Scorpion Armor”, for its large mark of a rearing scorpion on the chest) for themselves, hereafter known as “Dingo Hide Combat Armor”. The company agreed, though they made no promises as to their capability to understand the latter armor, as it seemed to have a very unique properties used in its construction.

The unit also funded the construction of * The “War Dogs” College of Military Sciences deciding to construct the college in * Landhold : Izpek. The unit also contacted Mercado Industrial Group, and through their MerTech branch, attempted to hire a handful of line engineers, succeeding in recruiting three trained engineers (two women and one man), for their own manufacturing efforts.

Word also reached the unit regarding the missing San Marcos Navy, who had apparently taken temporary refuge in The Overseas Territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha.

Later in the day, Captain Pol Baca “Templar” and MechWarrior Eric Lars “Caboose” took a squad of troopers and traveled out to the ranch known as the headquarters of “The Highwaymen”, one of the local criminal bands in * Landhold : Garrison. They boldly forced a meeting with the leader, Richard “The Red” Fernandez, who was having a barbeque with many of his men in back of the ranch house. Templar tried to break the ice by offering his aniseed-flavoured vodka, which he sipped to prove it wasn’t poison. When Red took a sip, he utterly couldn’t stomach it, and proceeded to puke all over the ground. In the confusion that followed, Templar and Caboose were forced out of the ranch at gun-point, though it was obvious Red had lost certain face among his own men by his weakness.

January 18th : Colonel Kanto Jokukad “Pitbull” and Captain Massimo De Luca “Advocate” had arranged for a meeting with the Sangrian government staffer who was responsible for the talks regarding establishing The Commonwealth of Nations. Visiting Ciudad Garcia, the pair and their assistants met with the woman, Secretary Mia Francis, and broached the subject of the Iron Dingoes providing training for the combined (future) military force of the Commonwealth.

They laid out their idea, of each nation in the organization granting a battalion of troops, and a landhold to support them within their own territory, and that the Iron Dingoes would equip them, train them, and then support them from these landholds. These Commonwealth forces would ostensibly keep the peace between nations, and protect the signatory nations from off-world aggression by bandits and other forces. The unit also specified that they would equip these units with armor and other assets over time, and train them in traditional Dingoes Tactics, using their successes in various training units, like the 12th (Foot) Rifle Infantry Battalion – “The Krakens”, as proof of their concept.

Secretary Francis was reluctant to guarantee this idea, partly because there had been nothing substantial agreed by any side in the negotiations, and partly because she was not the ultimate authority in the matter. She was concerned, at first, regarding giving even more lands to the Dingoes for the funding of an army to be led by them, insisting that there needed to be a civilian oversight committee within the Commonwealth that could assure the neutrality of this force. However, in principle, she reluctantly agreed that it was a good first step towards establishing a Commonwealth military force.

Pitbull also mentioned the remnants of the San Marcos navy, and hinted that if the Sangrian government didn’t make an attempt to recruit them, either directly into the Sangrian Navy, or under the aegis of a Commonwealth, the Iron Dingoes intended to do so. Secretary Francis assured them that it was underway, and that they intended to, at the very least, offer sanctuary and supplies to the navy and its dependents, until matters could be organized further. She also said she would bring the subject of the islands up to the President during her next briefing, possibly declaring the islands a “Territory” or other similar title.

After the officers excused themselves, they returned to their landhold, and began plans to possibly hire pirate allies from Haven to raid into the remnants of San Marcos, to liberate various industrial assets they might want. In effect, they would be hiring pirates to raid their own territory, and keep themselves completely out of the equation. Using The Warlord and his own forces might be the only way to pick out the pieces of the collapse of San Marcos for themselves, without being labelled pirates. It was predatory, but it was “Dingo Pack Tactics, Always”.
