May 9th, 3019, Late Evening : With the destruction of the factory complex in the industrial quarter of Ciudad Garcia, the Iron Dingoes surviving forces were told they had accomplished the defense of the city, and were released to return to Garrison for repairs. The air war above them continued unabated. The unit’s techs worked through the night to recover their salage and haul it back to their DropShips at Garrison. By late morning of the 10th, the unit was gathered back under the guns of its defensive forces and deep into repair work.

May 11th, 3019 : By the dawn of the 11th, the Dingoes command staff had hired the former Panther pilot, Trooper Evan, and began restructuring themselves, incorporating their recently recruited Mech pilots and other assets recovered during the fighting. Captain Erika Hartmann “Glamour” chose to bow out of the standard line of the unit, taking a place as lead in the AeroSpace units aboard her own STG-A1 Stinger LAM. Thus Trooper Evan was placed in her stead, and Captain Mitchell Kitsune “Wraith” took the lead in the lance. Other repair work commenced, and plans were drawn to bring * “The Dead Man’s Hand” up to full status, repairing the unit’s salvaged Rifleman and other units. Arrangements were made to employ the local “Mech Refurbishment Facility” for some of the trickier changes to the Rifleman and _captured Battlemaster.

May 13th, 3019 : The air war continued. The unit conducted a heavily-guarded convoy into Ciudad Garcia, taking their prime movers and salvage techs to the “Refurbishment Facility” for the repair work they had arranged. For the next 24 hours, they employed a workshop on the grounds of the facility, conducting factory-level repairs and changes to the machines they had chosen. Major Kanto Jokukad “Pitbull”, using the advanced Beagle Active Probe on his Mech, probed-out the facility, discovering that the one long building heavily guarded in the complex was being used for some sort of manufacturing work. He determined it was building an internal skeleton and fusion engine for a light Mech of some sort. Most believed it to be the mysterious origins of the unit’s FLE-4 Fleas.

May 14th, 3019, Evening : The air war continued. Repairs conducted, the unit headed back to Garrison, and by morning began preparing for the return of their two missing AeroFighters; the Assault Lander, and System Defense Boat, scheduled for arrival on the 16th.

May 16th, 3019 : The arrival of the unit’s missing AeroFighters forced the Dingoes to scramble every Aero asset they had into the skies. The resulting combat was a stand-off, but the arrival of the unit’s fresh AeroFighters and even the two low-fuel assault craft, brought it to a sudden conclusion. six wings of enemy air fighters were blown from the skies, less than half of which were destroyed outright. The remainder were forced to ground, and salvaged in a damaged state, including a pair of Guardian VSTOLs, a trio of Ferret Scout VTOLs, a lone cargo-hauling Karnov, and six Warrior Attack VTOLs. The Karnov and one of the Ferrets were taken for repairs, while the remainder were salvaged for parts and sold-off. The air war was won.

The unit’s prisoners were finally negotiated with; Dominique “Domino” Harvey and her cohorts were ransomed-off for 50,000 Cs each, and a promise of not fighting against the Dingoes for a year. They agreed. The Mech-less pilots were granted positions in the unit to fill holes and recently repaired Mechs. Domino asked for clearance to land her “ride” on the morrow, and it was granted.

May 17th, 3019 : On the morrow, a small spheroid DropShip appeared and landed at the unit’s make-shift starport; it was the missing bone-white Confederate-Class DropShip… “Men-in-Black” left the ship with payment for Domino’s peeps, and their MEchs were released to hobble back to the unmarked DropShip and allowed to leave for orbit…

The unit then started to look over the supplies lists Wraith had accumulated regarding various salvage yard markets nearby, including Ciudad Garcia, the national capital of Sangria, and Port Von Doom. Numerous days were spent in shopping and shipping various Mechs, parts and vehicles back and forth using the units activated Planetlifter Air Transports for the most part.

About a week in (May 26th) the unit took a vote on whether or not to accept an offer of various munitions being sold under the table. Almost completely in the “Yeah”, the unit arranged to meet the seller in Ciudad Garcia.

May 27th, 3019 : In the early hours of the morning, the unit arrived via Karnov, escorted by a handful of Line Scout Recon, to find a pair of light utility trucks loaded with crates and a platoon of local Civilia Guardia. Pitbull wandered out to meet a technician-appearing average guy, expecting an ambush. Money was exchanged, crates were unloaded, and the two parted company.

The unit also clarified with Senior Tech April O’Neil that they had sufficient data for their completion of that end of the contract with Five Rings Technology. She said that, while she’d like more actual war footage, it appeared she had enough data to send on with her to Joshua’s Station in a few months.

May 30th, 3019 : While still shipping assets back and forth, the unit was formally contacted by Cornet Carla Estrella, their liaison officer, that the Sangrian government sought a new contract with the Dingoes. The government was offering a Cadre Contract for a company (three platoons) of _Dingoes troops to train in the national capital for a year. The troops had to be trained in combined-arms, but otherwise they left the details up to the unit. A decision had to be made by the end of next month…

June 1st – July 31st, 3019 : A final round of recruitment was initiated, resulting in several wash-outs and few other successes. Hiring the captured mercenary infantry to fill their missing ranks in * “Garrison’s Own” – 4th Motorized Infantry Battalion, Sangrian Army, they concentrated during the final month on converting their administrative “officer’s corp” into armor crews and completely fill their required rosters in the mixed battalion. With some seasoning and training, the unit was complete, as were their contract.

The unit agreed to the new cadre contract “in principle” with the details to be determined later during negotiations.

August 1st, 3019 : A formal meeting of the command staff of the Iron Dingoes to discuss future plans. It was universally agreed that travel to System – Cassandra and salvage of “The Factory” were the key aspects of this operation. The unit consulted their techs, and the salvage techs reported it could take weeks to months to get the facility operational. They noted three important factors in the repair/reactivation:

1 – Resurrection of “The Factory” demanded the codes to reactivate Main Mission and the Central Computer be acquired; the present owners, Maas Companies Inc. were likely to have those codes, and that meant engaging in some sort of discussion with them for the “salvage” of the facility.

2 – Repair work, notably Life Support, Power Plant, and Gravity Mechanics were secondary concerns. Other systems, such as station machinery (cargo bays, elevators, ore processing equipment, etc.) were tertiary, with activation of the station’s maneuver drive the last concern. Parts and other supplies were likely available at the system, given their common enough origins.

3 – Position. Located in the Majestic Cluster, the station and its attendant asteroid made the entire station fall under the nominal control of Excalibur Corporation; a long-term nemesis of the Iron Dingoes. Getting access to the station was easy, given its isolated nature… keeping its reactivation a secret, difficult… quietly getting it out-system, impossible. Excalibur Corp would need to be addressed.

Pitbull began using his secret agent, Tech Brandis Turgan (under guard) to repair the codes on Intelsat “Predator’s Eye” and make it active once more. Given its importance to Dingoes operations, it was a valuable project.

Various parts were ordered through their contact of Mister Hernandez. FIve months left, and the contract was finally drawing down…
