Islambad Crucis March Militia

Defensive Militia of the Davion Periphery

One of the oldest units in the AFFS, the Islambad Crucis March Militia began life as the “Messengers of Shiva”, the combat arm of the United Hindu Collective (UHC). When the Collective joined the Federated Suns in 2540, the Messengers were absorbed into the AFFS. Their ancient traditions have eroded over time, but the organization maintains many of its caste-based biases, fueled by regional religious and cultural traditions.

Like the other Crucis March Militias, the Islamabad CrMM is well-equipped, much more so than the average Capellan March Militia or Draconis March Militia, and has an established and constant training regime. The Islamabad CrMM is highly active, leading to a readiness level greater than might have been expected of a militia formation, and acts as a mobile reserve for the Anjin Muerto Combat Region and a staging ground through which planetary militia soldiers could move on into the AFFS, while retiring AFFS personnel move into the March Militia to pass on their knowledge and experience.

Officers : Major General Lucille Carlton commands the entire Militia Brigade.

The Islambad CrMM consists of the following:

Islambad Crucis March Militia :
2 Battalions/Green/Reliable
Islambad CrMM Armor Brigade :
2 Regiments/Green/Reliable
Islambad CrMM Infantry Brigade :
5 Regiments/Green/Reliable
Islambad CrMM Aerospace Wing :

Tactics : The proud warriors of the Islambad CrMM are excellent fighters, but they lack the discipline to bond as an effective fighting force. They perform well in lance and company-sized engagements, but larger gatherings quickly degenerate into chaos. However, the resurgence of interest in the Messengers of Shiva has improved their discipline and coordination, leaving many hoping they can once more return to their potential.

Having long maintained a strong defensive army for its size, in 2480 the acquisition of obsolete Federated Peacekeeping Forces equipment allowed the United Hindu Collective (UHC) to create a mixed BattleMech/Aerospace regiment dubbed the “Messengers of Shiva” as a rapid reaction force that rotated through the worlds of the Collective. The Messengers only major engagement came in 2535 when the forces of Cassandra Varnay passed through the region, raiding Collective worlds as they attempted to outflank enemy forces. The Messengers of Shiva engaged and defeated the invaders on the Collective’s capital world of Jodipur, humiliating their better-equipped opponents due to superior training and tactics.

After the Collective formally joined the Federated Suns as a semi-autonomous state in 2540, the Messengers were absorbed into the newly-formed AFFS, eventually becoming the Islamabad Crucis March Militia.

UHC Rondel

In common with the other March Militias found across the Federated Suns, the Islamabad Crucis March Militia or Islamabad CrMM was formed in 2754 as a result of the Preparedness Act enacted by First Prince Roger Davion in 2735. Roger established a formal training programme aimed at increasing the general readiness level of the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns reserve forces and formalized the structure of the March Militias, bringing the planetary militias into a common structure.

After the centuries since its formation, the Militia remains relatively untested outside of regional war games, and the occasional bandit raid from the Periphery.
