AEP-7 Laser Pistol

Periphery Export

The AEP-7 laser pistol is a military-grade weapon placed into service to replace the older Reunification War AEP-5 model. With a generous battery size, tight shot grouping at range, resilience to extended use, and fairly decent damage output, it is a very good choice for a sidearm and is used extensively in this role by planetary militias and pirate forces almost Inner Sphere-wide.

As the successor to the AEP-5, it boasted a redesigned focusing crystal pattern, an improved photonic focusing chamber, and selectable laser focus, wavelength, pulse energy and repetition rate. In addition, it was lighter and less bulky than its predecessor and was perceived as a step toward replacing the ballistic 10mm pistol with a laser weapon as the standard issue sidearm for independent and House military forces.

The only problem with the AEP-7 laser pistol is its rarity. These guns don’t show up in the Periphery very often, because keeping the pistol repaired and maintained is a problem. Fortunately, the ammunition for the laser pistol is reasonably plentiful.

The AEP-7 was produced by General Atomics International in large numbers, thanks to newly developed manufacturing technologies in the Star League. The laser pistol’s simplicity has lent it to being copied and licensed across the Davion Outback and beyond. It is manufactured under fairly simple industrial conditions, and considered a staple of pirate forces and planetary militias alike. The weapon is ubiquitous in almost all respects.
